The delegation held meetings in Hewlêr (Erbil), the capital of the Kurdistan Region. Yesterday, they met with the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafil Celal Talabani, and his team at the PUK Political Bureau's Office. During the meeting, Derbas Kosret Resûl, Head of the PUK Relations Bureau, and Salar Serhed, Kurdistani Relations Representative, were also in attendance.
The discussions focused on recent developments in the Middle East, particularly the situation in Syria, emphasizing conflict prevention and the peaceful resolution of issues. Both sides expressed the importance of protecting the rights and freedoms of the Kurdish and Syrian peoples and respecting their collective will. They also called for the inclusive participation of all relevant parties in Syria’s transition process, advocating for dialogue and peaceful solutions to pave the way for a democratic new era.
Talabani reiterated the PUK’s support for any initiatives addressing Syria’s transition process, emphasizing the protection of Kurdish rights as a fundamental principle. He also expressed support for the efforts of Mazlum Abdi, recognizing his contributions to regional stability. Talabani urged all Kurdish factions to approach these matters with the same level of sensitivity.
Our delegation expressed appreciation for the PUK’s efforts and reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in defending the rights of Kurdish and regional peoples. They also highlighted the importance of Kurdish national unity during this critical period, underlining its necessity for achieving peace and resolution.
Today, our delegation continued their meetings in Sulaymaniyah. They visited the grave of Mam Celal Talabani, the founder of the PUK and former President of Iraq, to honor his legacy and contributions to the Kurdish cause.
